چکیده

The negative sign of the anomalous Nernst thermopower (SANE) observed in Mn-Ga ordered alloys is an attractive property for thermoelectric applications exploiting effect (ANE); however, its origin has not been clarified. In this study, to gain insight into SANE, we prepared epitaxial thin films MnxGa100−x with x ranging from 56.2 71.7 and systematically investigated structural, magnetic, transport properties, including Hall (AHE) ANE. measured SANE all samples shows close one order magnitude difference among different compositions. Together were able separate two contributions ANE, i.e., originating transverse coefficient (αxy) other AHE acting on longitudinal carrier flow induced by Seebeck effect. Both are found be samples, while experimentally obtained αxy exhibits a monotonic increase toward zero increasing x, which consistent tendency indicated first-principle calculations. Our results show that large mostly attributed αxy, thus shed light further enhancement ANE Mn-based alloys.

Phonon softening in Ni-Mn-Ga alloys

The TA2 phonon dispersion curves of Ni-Mn-Ga alloys with different compositions which transform to different martensitic structures have been measured over a broad temperature range covering both paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases. The branches show an anomaly (dip) at a wave number that depends on the particular martensitic structure, and there is softening of these anomalous phonons with d...

Elastic constants of Ni-Mn-Ga magnetic shape memory alloys

We have measured the adiabatic second order elastic constants of two Ni-Mn-Ga magnetic shape memory crystals with different martensitic transition temperatures, using ultrasonic methods. The temperature dependence of the elastic constants has been followed across the ferromagnetic transition and down to the martensitic transition temperature. Within experimental errors no noticeable change in a...

Ferromagnetic shape memory alloys: Alternatives to Ni–Mn–Ga

This paper intends to review the state-of-the-art in the field of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys different than Ni–Mn–Ga, developed in the ast years. It starts with the effects of additions of different fourth elements to Ni–Mn–Ga and continues with the review of other Heusler (or B2) i-based and Co-based alloy systems, like Ni–Mn–X, Ni–Fe–Ga, Co–Ni–Al and Co–Ni–Ga alloys. Finally, ferromagn...

Clustering of Mn in (Ga,Mn)As

Clustering of (Ga,Mn)As is studied with the supercell density-functional calculations using the projector augmentedwave method. We find large binding energies for a single substitutional Mn atom to existing dimers and trimers giving rise to trimer and tetramer formation. For larger clusters this binding energy drops. In all cases studied, ferromagnetic alignment is found to be energetically mor...

FERROMAGNETISM IN (Ga,Mn)As AND (Ga,Mn)N

(Ga,Mn)As and (Ga,Mn)N are so called diluted magnetic semiconductors, i.e. semiconductor based materials made ferromagnetic by inclusion of a magnetic element—in this case Mn. This type of materials bridge over the incompatibilities in metal–semiconductor interfaces in electronics components and have an enormous potential for future spintronics applications, where both charge and spin degrees o...
